Business Solutions Manager, IT

BUSINESS SOLUTIONS MANAGER, IT
Our client, a well known leading fashion specialty department store with offices in Downtown Toronto, is seeking the services of a Business Solutions Manager, IT. The position reports to the Director, IT and is responsible for up to three direct reports. The individual will be accountable for establishing and maintaining partnerships with business stakeholders and will be the focal point for business solution creation and delivery to the specific business vertical(s) supported.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
1.    Leadership Accountability
 

Establish and maintain partnerships with business stakeholders to effectively understand and represent their business need.

Create consensus and understanding around proposed business solutions at all levels of the organization, including executive level.

Drive organizational change management required to support solution implementations.

Maintain communications with Business Solutions Managers representing other business verticals to ensure cross functional linkage and alignment.

Maintain communications with other IT teams keeping them advised regarding Business Solutions initiatives, and vice-versa to ensure seamless service to the business partner.

Select, build and retain a high performing, self-managed team capable of delivering goals, including virtual teams across cross functional groups.

 Positively affect the employment proposition for each employee on the team.

·         Provide leadership direction keeping IT and business teams apprised of departmental plans, industry trends, organizational objectives, financial status.

·         Support the team in their development and currency of skills.

·         Ensure effective resource planning and utilization.

·         Build business cases for investment including strategy and innovation initiatives.

·         Drive continuous improvement to leverage industry best practices.

 
2.    Business Relationship Management

 

 Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders in the business verticals this position represents through the following:

- Effectively understand and represent their business needs.
- Establish value-based relationships; become a credible, trusted advisor and advocate to the business team(s).
- Market opportunities to leverage technology and/or business process improvements to enhance business operations.
- Manage all incoming business demand (Demand Management) requiring IT solution services.
3.    Business Solutions Management
 

Manage opportunity identification by conducting effective feasibility studies of potential solution options, high level cost and benefits.

Manage business solution creation and approval of related projects via comprehensive business cases that include solution scenarios, financial investment analysis and benefits achievement.

Hold overall accountability to business stakeholders for successful delivery of approved business solutions projects. This may include overall program management to ensure business function validation, acceptance testing of solutions and management of related organizational change.

Play a lead role in business requirements management for business solutions projects. Effectively use appropriate tools to accomplish this, including workshop facilitation, use case modelling, data and process flow modelling.

Develop business area strategies including high level roadmaps.

 
Qualifications
 

     Business Management/Computer Science Degree

     10-15 years relevant experience in leading client solution delivery preferably in a Retail environment

     Broad knowledge of retail businesses, and specific business domain knowledge pertinent to the portfolio supported.

     Well developed relationship management skills.

     Track record in successfully delivering complex, cross functional business solutions. 

     Solid program and project management skills have been demonstrated.

     Track record of delivery in a managed services environment, with a variety of 3rd party solution vendors. Solid vendor management skills have been demonstrated.

     Strong business and financial acumen.

     Well developed strategic business visioning and planning skills.

     Ability to turn strategies into tactical plans.

     Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
