Junior Project Engineer - Contract
(Toronto - North - April 5th, 2010)

A high tech consumer products organization in north Toronto is seeking the services of a Junior Project Engineer for a supply chain logistics distribution initiative. This position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for logistics engineering and process improvement in warehousing and distribution operations across Canada, with mandates including:

1. Engineering design and implementation of warehousing and distribution, automation equipment, production center, maintenance and operation support;

2. Six Sigma and LEAN process improvement as a center of excellence in Supply Chain & Logistics;

3. Capital projects for various Supply Chain infrastructure, process capability and efficiency.

This is a six month contract that may be renewable or lead to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

 Reporting to Manager Logistics Engineering, the Junior Engineer will be responsible for the following duties during the contract term:

  • Evaluate and consolidate packaging cartons and vendors;
  • Assist in Lean and Green projects;
  • Conduct feasibility studies for improvement projects;
  • Provide project management and coordination to various projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

University Bachelor Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering;

  • Engineering experience and skills in packaging, production, time studies, work flow design, CAD drawings, financial/project justifications;
  • Project management skills with proven track records in successful completion of projects on time, on budget and to the specifications;
  • Experience in Supply Chain & Logistics, Six Sigma and Lean - an asset;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and vendors;
  • Customer focused, result driven, and a self starter with ability to work well independently and in a team;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines of multiple projects in a fast paced environment;
  • Minimum 2-3 years work experience;
  • Proficient with MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
